Wildfire Owlbear | Monster

An inhuman screech is heard in the distance. Trees bear the scars of long laws while scorch marks surround piles of ash and cinder. Large footprints lead to a clearing with a blazing fire and a large beast with blood-red feathers, deep brown fur, and a hideous hooked beak. The screech is louder this time as your clothes catch fire from the unbearable heat. A terrible claw punches your chest and sends you flying into a nearby tree. Today is not your day.

Description

The mighty bear-owl has once again been transformed even further into a monstrosity. No one remembers the name of the foolish mage who merged a wildfire spirit with an owlbear. The powerful beast radiates so much firepower that objects catch flame when they get near. Its brute strength is enough to knock down the bravest warriors but beware it’s fire blast. That’s what took out the aforementioned foolish mage.

Adventure Hook

The players are sent on a hunt for a nightmarish creature terrorizing the town of Neverna’s Hollow. The wildfire owlbear has been reawoken from its unending slumber by a splinter group of the Black Brotherhood known as the Awakeners. They believe it is their destiny to set free those monstrosities kept asleep in order to set the stage for their grand masters’ return. Little do they know, a group of orcs known as the Guardians of Huraas are close to finding the entrance to the ancient Ziggurat of the Malconvoker.

Combat

The wildfire owlbear will attack the closest threat with the intention to knock it prone and pounce. When bloodied the creature will release one Fire Blast attack as a reaction and attempt to retreat while keeping any attackers at bay.
